Kentucky requires a temporary Fuel Permit for interstate carriers operating without IFTA credentials. Vehicles meeting heavy vehicle thresholds must obtain fuel tax authorization before operating within Kentucky. Carriers operating at higher weights may also be subject to KYU reporting requirements. Proper documentation protects against enforcement action.

  • 26,000+ lbs GVW
  • OR 3 or more axles
  • And not registered under the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA)
