A New York Trip Permit allows temporary operation for commercial vehicles not properly apportioned under IRP for the state. Vehicles meeting federal registration thresholds must obtain temporary authority prior to entry. In addition, vehicles at 18,000 pounds or more may be subject to Highway Use Tax (HUT) requirements. Securing proper credentials ensures legal operation within New York.
